Design
DMI stays up to date with the latest technology and programs. DMI works side by side with architects and designers to create the best possible details and attachments for each project. Our designers spend ample time considering how to achieve the greatest production outcome to meet or exceed our client’s expectations. Our design, manufacturing and installation capabilities provide a one stop shop within our expertise.
Scanning
Using state of the art structured light 3D scanners, we can scan any object, small to large with 0.1 mm accuracy. The data can be used for reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, and other applications where accurate and high-quality 3D data is required. Our scanners can be taken anywhere to capture objects into 3D data, in our office, your studio, off-site, and even remote locations.
Modeling
Using up to date technology, DMI can provide 3D digital models, physical scaled models as well as mock-ups and maquettes. Scaled models are a great tool for saving overall project costs.
Milling
DMI has 10 multi-axis mills, to precision sculpt any feature, figure or form at virtually any size. DMI is highly experienced in rendition of complex IP of all types. DMI has artisan sculptors to hand carve and finish master models as needed. The milling team has years of experience working closely with creative directors, and artists to quickly deliver work to customer specifications.
Fiberglass
Our Fiberglass is a lightweight, extremely strong, Class 1 fire rated, corrosion resistant product that provides longevity and is virtually maintenance free. All of our resins and gelcoats are stored in a temperature-controlled material storage room to ensure the best quality control of our finished products.
GFRC
Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement is a cement-based composite, reinforced with glass fiber. Fibers are used in concrete to control plastic shrinkage cracking and drying shrinkage cracking. They also lower the permeability of concrete and thus reduce bleeding of water. GFRC is an excellent solution for prefabricated architectural details. Large scale components can be joined like cut stone or with seams field filled and finished to appear to be monolithic elements. Non-combustible, durability measured in decades, integral colors and low maintenance are all benefits of GFRC.
GFRG
Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum can be used for interior sculpted and formed plaster details including moldings, domes, columns, corbels and brackets. Cast parts are made of a mixture of raw gypsum and cement, laminated to layers of long strand, continuous glass fiber matting. Components are very high strength, durable, non-combustible, easy to finish and maintain.
Structural and Ornamental Metalwork
DMI has a dedicated metal shop with capabilities to do large scale structural fabrication for all our cast parts as well as elaborate ornamental work. Certified welders work in all metals. Our 5 axis waterjet can precision cut the most complex of patterns in all types of material and shearing, cutting, milling, welding, and finishing are all done in DMI’s shop.
Scenic Finishes
DMI has full paint capabilities from automotive and architectural finishes to elaborate scenic art. From surface preparation including sandblasting through priming and finishing in DMI’s drive through spray booth, DMI can provide any finish desired. Scenic artists provide a complete menu of services from samples and draw-downs through on-site finishing and tie-in.
Installation
Nationwide installation teams have worked together for 20+ years. We travel to each project site, efficiently sequence, install and finish even the most complex projects.
